    Huitt-Zollars, Inc. (formerly Hoskin Ryan Consultants) has an excellent Civil Engineer opportunity at our Phoenix, AZ office.  This full-time role works collaboratively in a team environment providing engineering design for multiple urban development and drainage projects. The successful candidate will be an Arizona registered PE with at least 5 years’ experience in design, proposal preparation, client coordination and plan production of grading, drainage and paving design projects. They are capable of responsibly delivering quality projects in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment, and have the desire to become a project manager.  This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer to further their career and expertise at a premier design firm.

    Requirements:

    • Produce accurate and complete design plans of storm drain, sewer, water and reclaimed water for various urban development projects.
    • Plan preparation and budget management of water, sewer, paving, grading and drainage plans.
    • Perform analysis of water and sewer systems.
    • Plan production will include preparations of plan and profiles of streets and various other underground utilities common to land development.
    • Produce specifications, construction support, cost estimating, geotechnical coordination.
    • Produce design and construction drawings incorporating information from project lead, research data and consultants for various projects including land development grading, utility, drainage, paving plans, etc.
    • Train staff and review work for quality assurance
    • Manage multiple projects with limited supervision
    • Research materials and assemblies for design and construction drawings.
    • Conduct site visits and assist with documenting findings.
    • Prepare project proposals
    • Interact and meet with clients regularly
    • Learn and implement HZ CAD standards

    Requirements:

    • B.S. in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
    • Minimum 5 years of design experience with underground utilities, paving, grading and utilities
    • PE Arizona State License and registration
    • Self-motivated with solid leadership and management skills
    • Proven design experience and Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus
    • Hydrology and hydraulics experience is a plus
    • ArcGIS, MicroStation and other engineering design software proficiency is a plus
    • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods and techniques
    • Knowledge of local, county and state agency submittal process
    • Effective technical writing skills and ability to prepare civil engineering documents and specifications for projects
    • Ability to satisfy clients and solve complex problems
    • Solid time management and ability to meet deadlines
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
    • Ability to work over 40 hours and assume increased responsibilities when presented
    • Excellent verbal and written communication – conveying engineering information concisely
