    Huitt-Zollars, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified architect for the position of National Healthcare Director, to be located in our downtown Houston office. The successful candidate will assume the title of Vice President in the firm and be responsible for leading and growing our national healthcare practice, with current staff and operations in Houston, Dallas, and El Paso, Texas and Los Angeles and Irvine, California.  The new Vice President will be a subject matter expert in the field of healthcare facility design and construction, with a track record of at least 15 years of experience in the market.  It is essential that the candidate have superior communications skills and a successful track record of direct sales to healthcare institutions.  The candidate must have Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and be a licensed architect in the state of Texas (or with reciprocity).

     

    Responsibilities

    • Lead a national market group with operations in multiple locations in CA and TX.
    • Develop a business plan for growth of the healthcare group and a marketing strategy to support this growth.
    • Personally conduct business development activities and cultivate client relationships, as well as manage the overall healthcare business development program for the firm.
    • Develop an organizational strategy for the national market group that, as growth allows, provides full service capabilities in each region participating in the healthcare market; assist in the recruiting of key positions to be filled under this strategy.
    • Serve as principal in charge or, where appropriate, as project manager of major new commissions of the firm, and in all cases be responsible for client management of healthcare institutions that engage the firm.
    • Work with office managers in all affected locations to supervise the healthcare portion of their practices in order to achieve both client satisfaction and financial success.

     

    Requirements

    • Understanding of market trends, knowledge of current leaders and peers within the healthcare design community, and a client network with major healthcare providers, with special emphasis on the institutions located in the Texas Medical Center.
    • Familiarity with a variety of healthcare project types, including both their operational and functional requirements.
    • Proven skills in engaging both current and new clients that are introduced through both firm connections and individual strategic pursuits.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in order to represent the firm both internally and externally.
    • Understanding of how to create a business plan under the framework of a larger organization with leadership skills to implement the plan.
