Huitt-Zollars’ Fort Worth, Texas office has a great full-time opportunity for an Electrical Engineer P.E. to produce and manage electrical designs of new commercial development projects including high-rise residential building renovations, transportation service centers, federal and state buildings and building renovations under supervision of the Project Manager. The nature of the work performed requires that the Electrical Engineer establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Huitt-Zollars staff, utility representatives, contractors, and consultants and clients.

Manage multiple electrical engineering designs of new construction and renovation projects.
Prepare designs, and handle design review and quality control.
Prepare electrical construction specifications, budgets, schedules and work plans for projects.
Researches building codes and standards to determine essential design requirements of the projects.
Manage engineering staff who are assigned to work on the design projects.
Perform electrical system planning including electric distribution layouts, specifications of wiring systems, and analysis of loads.
Provide technical assistance to other disciplines and offices within the Huitt-Zollars Firm.
Calculate lighting illumination levels and designs lighting layouts for both interior and exterior lighting projects.
Perform electrical studies including voltage drop/dip, short circuit and overcurrent coordination studies.
Update, revises and review drawings and equipment files.
Prepare rough drafts of essential project correspondence, meeting minutes, and memoranda.
Assist the Firm in the establishment of standards and specifications and evaluate material used in electrical projects.
Prepare various technical reports for engineering studies.
Coordinate with other Huitt-Zollars disciplines, utility companies, consulting engineers, architects, and contractors to maximize efficiency and effectiveness in project design.
Keep Office Manager and Project Managers informed on work progress, and address potential project problems.
Attend meetings, conferences, trainings to stay current on trade principles, practices and new developments.
Review project construction submittals and shop drawings.
Visit construction sites, perform project construction observations and prepare punch lists.
Texas Professional Registration
B.S. Degree in Electrical
Minimum 5 years’ experience
Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit BIM, Microsoft Word and Excel
Comprehensive knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of electrical engineering and electrical equipment operation
Thorough knowledge of the overall medium- and low-voltage electrical power and distribution systems
Thorough knowledge building industry codes and standards
Knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment used in the construction of electrical building systems
Ability to manage multiple electrical design projects
Ability to read and interpret Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing and Civil engineering drawings
Ability to prepare and present accurate and reliable reports containing findings and recommendations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
