Huitt-Zollars’ Irvine, CA Office has an immediate full-time opportunity for an Urban Development Project Engineer. This role will work collaboratively in a team environment providing engineering design for diverse public and private projects. Candidate must be a Licensed Civil Engineer in the state of California with 4 + years of progressive experience in design of roadways, storm drain, sewer, water and reclaimed water for various land development projects.



  • Produce design plans of streets, storm drain, sewer, water and reclaimed water for public works projects and development projects including residential subdivisions, commercial and industrial developments
  • Produce design and construction drawings incorporating information from supervisor, research data and consultants for various projects including land development grading, utility, drainage, paving plans, etc.
  • Research materials and assemblies for design and construction drawings as directed by supervisor
  • Conduct site visits and assist with documenting findings


  • B.S. in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
  • California State License and registration
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in design plans, specifications, construction support, cost estimating and geotechnical coordination
  • Knowledge of surveying and regulatory permitting
  • Proficiency in Microstation, AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong knowledge of construction means, methods and techniques
  • Ability to prepare civil engineering documents and specifications for projects
  • Ability to read redlines and modify drawings accurately
